FAQ
Why use WICKIT?
Apparel and fabrics have become more innovative and comfortable, but you shouldn’t treat them with the same old softeners your mom and your grandma used. Unlike traditional fabric softeners and conditioners, WICKIT is actually safe for all fabrics – especially athletic wear. WICKIT enhances, retains, and restores wicking and softening properties on your clothing, simultaneously, to enhance comfort.
Do I have to sort/separate my laundry?
Nope. Your sorting days are over. So throw it all in together. Running mixed loads is one way WICKIT saves you time. WICKIT also reduces the time it takes for your clothes to dry by up to one-third third. So you can spend less time doing laundry and more time doing things that aren’t laundry.
My clothing tags say not to use softeners. Should I still use WICKIT?
You bet. Because WICKIT is not a traditional fabric softener. Traditional fabric softeners, including dryer sheets, should not be used on all clothing as they contain ingredients that inhibit, and even ruin, the performance of your clothing, particularly performance athletic wear. WICKIT brings a new approach to softening, uniquely enhancing the wicking performance of your clothing while softening it. For best performance, WICKIT should be used with your favorite detergent and without other fabric softeners or dryer sheets.
Can WICKIT be used on all fabrics?
Yes! Not only can WICKIT be used on all fabrics, but we encourage it. WICKIT actually likes synthetic fibers, which are being used more and more to make your clothes more comfortable. WICKIT is intended to enhance performance and comfort on athletic wear, athleisurewear, professional dress pants, denim, golf shirts, towels, and more.
Does WICKIT remove bad smells from athletic wear?
On its own, WICKIT does not remove bad smells. But unlike traditional softeners, WICKIT won’t trap odors making bad smells worse. And when paired with traditional odor removing laundry treatments, all your athletic wear can feel soft, smell great, and perform at their best.
How much WICKIT should I use in my laundry regimen?
The standard dose recommendation is 30 ml (or one ounce) of WICKIT per medium load (~6 pounds of clothes). You will experience the benefits of WICKIT after your first load, but peak performance will occur after a few loads as WICKIT must work to undo the damage already caused by other fabric treatments. To reach peak performance more quickly, we suggest using twice the recommended dose for your first five loads. Once WICKIT is removed from the laundry regimen, you may start to notice a loss in performance – prevent this by adding the standard recommended dose in each laundry load.
Can WICKIT be used alone, or does it need to be used with a detergent?
Use WICKIT in combination with your favorite detergent. While WICKIT can behave like a soap to remove oils, its best performance comes when being paired with detergent to remove as much dirt build up from your clothes as possible. WICKIT has been tested with most market available detergents, and it provides excellent compatibility with each of them.
Do I need a specific washing machine type to use WICKIT?
Nope. All machines welcome. High efficiency front loaders, top loaders, hand washing, etc. – All are good fits for WICKIT. It can be used in cold or hot water, and WICKIT can be added in the rinse cycle or directly in the washer drum at the beginning of the wash cycle. However, adding to the rinse cycle is best for peak performance.
What are the main ingredients of WICKIT?
Ok, that’s a bit of a secret. Here’s what we can tell you. WICKIT is a blend of specialty nonionic, biodegradable polymers that were selected with low skin sensitivity in-mind. Unlike traditional fabric softeners and conditioners, WICKIT does not contain skin irritants like charged ester quats, phosphates, ammonium chlorides, formic acid, silicones, or other nasty ingredients.
Is WICKIT friendly to the environment?
It is. WICKIT is carefully formulated with biodegradable components. These biodegradable components replace super-surfactants commonly found in conditioners to promote wicking (and also pollute water and can harm fish populations).
Is WICKIT made in the USA?
Cue the Star Spangled Banner please. WICKIT products are manufactured in North Carolina where WICKIT’s development center is also based.
